Came to the USO hoping to get some rest as I can’t check into my room until 1300 and have two oversized bags with me. No one was ever there or did it open even when it states they open at 9

We arrived at 08:30 in the morning and they opened early for us to enter! Stayed until they closed at 14:00. Got some much needed sleep in great lounge chairs and enjoyed some great snacks. We had an all day layover and this helped us out so much!

Our daughter-in-law and 2yo granddaughter are flying back to Grafenwöhr Gerrmany. She has a 7 HOUR layover at JFK, so she was planning on utilizing the USO, in Hopes that our granddaughter would perhaps nap and she could rest up before nearly a 20 hour flight.

NOPE.
Not open.

This is one of the busiest travel times for military members, going on leave tjis holiday season and they are closed.

What an absolute let down.
What a way to honor our troops.

First off, most JFK employees don't even know that there is a USO in the airport. That is not surprising considering the size of it, which matches the hours, limited. They are open 9-2pm, supposedly every day. By the way, it is located in Terminal 5 across from baggage carousel 3.
It is small and doesn't have the amenities that most others have.
In their defense, the hours may be due to a lack of volunteers. Who wants to deal with the traffic to get to the airport?
I wish I could have taken advantage of the service, considering my long lay over.

Google and the sign on the door day open until 5pm. Then a second door sign says closed until further notice. Would be swell to update Google so people don't waste time thinking they can come here.

Arrived at 11:30, looking forward to using the USO for a few hours before they closed at 2. There was no one there! Locked up tight. Waited around for another hour then gave up.

Everything I checked said open. Showed up to my flight early thinking Id get some shut eye, and relax, but it’s closed. Now i’m too early to check bags and no where to sit for the next few hours.
