Terrible, workers are slow and rude. Telling us to comeback at 5am. How safe is that!? Signs said open until 5pm, yet kicking us out at 4pm! Instead of talking to eachother they should hop on a computer and help the line out!

They are doing their best during COVID. I had to renew my license and applied for the REAL ID as well and it went great! I highly suggest you try and get the application started online for anything you are doing if you can. It speeds up the process a ton! I went straight to the appointment line and was done by 9:30. Got there at 7am and there was already about 50 people in line for the regular line. That one moved pretty quickly too. My suggestion is get there at least an hour early if you can or try and get your applications started online to expedite the process. They also check your temperature right before 8am when they open.

Arrived at 7:30am. Needed to renew my senior ID card. Office opened at 8. Line moved fast. Was in and out in two hours. Employees were very polite and professional. I enjoyed my visit.

Book an appointment online months in advance if you need something done and it's not time urgent. They have a separate line to the right of the entrance that's short and you don't need to wait as long. However, getting there early would still benefit you.

I unfortunately did not have that luxury of waiting, so I had to arrive and 7am to grab an appointment slip for a Real ID application. I arrived at 7:10 AM and there was already a line around the building that reached the third wall. There's marking on the sidewalk that indicates where you should stand. It was mostly spaced adequately but occasionally had markings too close to each other.

At around 8:30 AM, security arrived to reposition the line at the front of the building's sectioned-off parking by Wilcox. A security guard came out 10 minutes before they opened to hand out appointment slips that encouraged you to fill out whatever necessary forms you might need before you get inside. It had a QR code that just sent you to the DMV website. It also had a generic "scheduled" time that was more an estimate for when you'd be admitted inside. For example, it says "come back at 10 AM", which is problematic (I'll explain later).

Afterwards, a second employee took temperatures of our hands which, presumably, having a normal temperature reading, they'd grant you a "DMV screened" sticker. I don't think a hand is an appropriate place for this kind of assessment.

A better protocol would be to have your temperature taken and approved first, then have someone hand out an appointment slip. One, to avoid giving a slip to someone sick before their temperature is taken and two, to prevent people from leaving the line thinking they need to come back at the estimated time. We had a few people who left before being screened because they thought the slip guaranteed a place in line. It also didn't help that we weren't told to stay until after everyone in line had a slip and a screened sticker, so plenty of opportunity for someone to leave prematurely.

If you receive a slip that states 2 PM, you're encouraged to come back at that time. But any time before 2 PM, you're asked to wait. 2 PM is the last appointment slot they will give you.

At 9 AM, they started bringing people in. Even though the line initially wrapped around 3/4ths of the building from where I was, I was able to determine I was about 36th in line. They were able to take in about 20 people from the "appointment slip" line and maybe 10 people from the pre-booked appointment line. From there, I had to wait until 11:30 AM or so before I got inside.

By 11 AM, they ran out of appointment slips

Once inside, chairs were sparse and so you had a lot of opportunity to keep your distance. The driver's test line was only a foot-wide gap from the photo line, however, so no real opportunity to distance there. Thankfully, hardly anyone in the photo line so not a lot of waiting.

Employees were mostly pleasent, but you could tell they had no patience for people who seemed to try to get in without being screened or didn't know what they were there for or being deliberately difficult. Having better signage to communicate the protocol would help mitigate those problems. The guy taking the photo also spoke so fast, I could barely make out what he was telling me to do.

That said, it took maybe thirty minutes of waiting before I was able to get my stuff done and eventually leave. I highly recommend submitting your documents online and pre-approved first before making it inside (which this location supports).
