I adopted two male cats at the Erath County Humane Society. The people working there are very kind and helpful. The fees are quite reasonable. If you're looking for a new pet, you should definitely check out this no kill shelter.

Everyone working at this shelter is so kind. They get to know all of the animals. It's heartwarming to see people who truly love animals running this. They bust their butts to try to keep up with the overwhelming amount of animals that have been let down by humans. I adopted a spunky little kitten for my son (14), they make sure they have their shots, microchip and they are fixed. I have quite a few rescues that are all a big happy pack. I live almost an hour away but everytime I go to Walmart in stephenville I will buy things for this shelter. Everything helps. Please, if you can't rescue for whatever reason but you love animals, donate. Donate food, blankets, towels, old clothes that can be turned into rags, toys anything an animal can benefit from, even time, your personal time to help them with anything they need. Anything these amazing people can use. I can't adopt them all, but this is another way I know to help. oh and if anyone working at the shelter reads this, bugsy got shortened to bug ? he wants everyone to love him and has no concept of personal space ? except with my bulldog/boxer, he's still convinced he's a monster. But it's so funny seeing this tiny little stinker Halloween catting my 95lb dog. JT (dog) is being the same patient pupper as he's been with all the others. They will be buddies soon, as soon as bug realizes JT won't eat him ? oh and he's claimed the Zelda themed cat tree ?

It is a " no kill" animal shelter, all dogs, cats, etc. are treated with compassion. Kennels are clean. They feed and take care of every one. They walk the dogs daily, they provide food and treats. Diane McCoy publishes adds looking for owners of lost pets, also she does a great job finding new homes for the animals. You can visit and find your new best friend, or just visit bringing food or treats.

Would have loved to give them a 5 as the folks there do there best in an otherwise tough set of conditions. We brought our young cats in to be microchipped and the cost was minimal. The facility is worn and in desperate need of space and repair. Many of the dogs are in outdoor runs with minimum cover and protection from the elements. The workers, mostly volunteers, do their utmost to care for the animals in their charge. Many individuals in the community have donated food, toys, treats, and other items but I would have expected the county to provide better funds for upkeep of this vital service.

The women there were very accommodating and wonderful. They have me everything they possibly could about our new babe. They really seem to care about their animals and who they go to.
