The reason I’m giving five stars instead of zero and filing a complaint against the entire team is thanks to the supervisor, Anna (if I remember her name correctly). She stepped in professionally and resolved the situation after two other supervisors, who seemed clueless, and an employee’s mistake and disrespect. Anna not only took care of everything but also made sure I left with my tasks completed and a smile on my face. It just goes to show that even one knowledgeable professional in a government office can turn things around despite the errors of others. I hope the other two employees receive a warning, because if I hadn’t stood up for myself and what I knew to be right, I would have left empty-handed.

AVOID! RUN!!! Take the bus to Lodi's instead. I went to this MVC in North Bergen to get my driver’s license, and I must say, it was one of the worst experiences I’ve had with a government agency.

Although I had all my documents in hand and had already completed driving lessons (shoutout to EZ-Wheels Driving School), the process was incredibly frustrating due to sheer incompetence. The wait times were horrendous, and while I understand that working there can be stressful, that does not excuse the attitude I got from most of the staff. When I passed my driving test, I followed the instructions on the website, which states that I could walk in at any time to get my driver’s license after passing the driving test. However, when I did so, they told me to come earlier. After arriving three hours earlier the next day, they told me to come even earlier! The commute from downtown to North Bergen takes about an hour, so waking up at the crack of dawn was not fun, but I had no choice. Finally, I got a "walk-in ticket", but the trouble didn’t end there.

To make things worse, when I gave the woman at the counter my learner's permit, she rudely questioned whether my glasses were for fashion or if I really needed them, which left me confused. After explaining that I do need my glasses, she seemed puzzled. Turns out the staff member that took my vision test did a horrid job and misinformed me saying that I should take it with my glasses, which I was very unsettled by. The photo itself turned out awful! I look like a drug dealer and most of my friends agree, but I guess that happens to most of us.

This experience was awful from start to finish: the staff's attitude, confusing instructions, and lack of organization made what should have been a simple process incredibly difficult. I rarely write negative reviews, but this place really takes the cake. DO NOT ENGAGE! I repeat, DO NOT ENGAGE!

It was very disrespectful. Due to a staff member’s mistake, I was informed after waiting for two hours that my case could not be processed that day, and I was ordered to come back later. When I asked the supervisor for a detailed explanation, including whether any cases after mine were processed that day, I was told I was being disrespectful to the staff and was kicked out.

This is why America is falling apart.

This MVC has the most disrespectful public servants I have ever encountered. They have no respect for the public at all. Let's begin with the ID check. For proof of residency for the real id it asks you for a letter from any government agency in the past 6 months. I gave the public servant a letter from the CIA that was addressed to me and it was first class mail. I handed him the letter and the envelope. The public servant says he doesn't need the envelope just the letter. He then says he has to speak to his supervisor regarding the letter. The public servant returns and tells me they can't accept the letter because the CIA is not an official government agency. What !?! how un educated do you have to be to not know the CIA is a federal government agency. I explained to the gentleman the CIA is a federal agency. Then the story changes and he said it has to be an approved government agency by the DMV. Well at that point I showed them a copy of their own rules stating any government agency in the past 6 months was good enough to verify the address. I escalate with a supervisor. The supervisor from the beginning had a bad attitude and spoke to me in an aggressive tone. I explained the situation to her and handed her the letter. She asks me "How do I know this is a letter?" I said because it's addressed to me and there's an official seal on top of that. She then said how do I know this is first class mail. I hand over the envelope. She then says oh why didn't you show this to the gentleman from the very beginning. I swear at this point the level of stupidity being displayed was unreal. I explained to the supervisor the envelope was the first thing I handed over to her subordinate and he said he didn't need it. She continued to try to blame me for this situation. She reluctantly approved my documents. As I was collecting my documents she began to snicker about me to her coworker while I was still standing there! These public servants have no respect for the public and honestly most of them should be fired. If this is how the NJ state government wants to represent itself to the public then the public at large should start voting for people who are willing to change a rotten system and fire disrespectful workers. Gross to think these people are getting paid with our tax dollars.

The worst driver license transfer experience I have ever had. I prepared all materials mentioned on there website, passed the id check but was told they could not approve the transfer by a counter lady.

I recently had an incredibly frustrating experience at the New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission in North Bergen. The staff in the ID check section were some of the rudest and most condescending people I’ve ever encountered. Instead of providing assistance or clear instructions, they seemed more interested in belittling people (who are tax payers and paying for their salaries) and making the process as difficult as possible.

The attitude of the staff made an already stressful situation even worse. It’s disappointing that a public service office would treat people with such little respect. I understand that DMV visits can be busy and stressful, but there’s no excuse for the level of rudeness and lack of professionalism I witnessed.

I would strongly urge the management to address this issue and ensure that their staff is trained to treat people with the basic courtesy and respect that every customer deserves. Until then, I would advise avoiding this location if at all possible.

Extremely rude employees. I came in after having made an appointment, was handed some applications and a tiny slip of paper. I filled out the application after being admonished for not doing it in the right location (no one bothered to tell me where to go), and then stood in line for 15 minutes to get to the ID check window. I was told I needed the slip of paper, which I had received no previous information about. I had apparently dropped it, and I asked if I could go check near the table I’d filled out my application at. The lady at the window made sure to let me know she was annoyed by this. I came back with a slip and was again admonished because I’d left my wallet at the window. She told me “don’t do this again”. I had picked up a slip which I thought might be mine and she made a face and said some abbreviation, and told me this is for commercial drivers. I said ok, I guess that one’s not mine then. I was then told I needed a slip, so I left. After standing in line, arriving early for my appointment, and bringing all of the required documents.

Lady, I’m sorry you hate your job. I’m sure it sucks. But I was nothing but polite to you and you chose to be extremely unkind for no reason. No one knows what’s going on in this place because no one explains it and we don’t come here every day, unlike you. I hope everyone who works here has the day they deserve.
