The VA has created an unsafe environment for alot of veterans. When veterans show up for help and leave with a federal charge it's clear the female that runs the security on the premises is very biased. There are alot of good Doctors, unfortunately too many civilians disrespecting when a veteran speaks up at Raymond G Murphy.

•The obesity level among the Healthcare team at the VA is hard to take serious. So many workers at Raymond G Murphy need to practice better nutrition. Lead my example.
•Nice little snack/nick knack shop in the hospital
•Beautiful layout of the landscape, plenty of open area with picnic tables and a walking/running track; Wednesdays are great because there's a small farmers market on grounds.
•The Canteen has a great selection of food and alot of the time they have live music in the cafeteria sitting area.
•The camo couture store in the Canteen is filled with overpriced, triggering war memorabilia/and junk. The owner is quite rude as well.

For dealing with behavioral health at the VA here, I'd give 0 stars. For dealing with this VA's Beacon service, I'd give 5 stars.

I moved to NM and was simply trying to transfer to this VA in Albuquerque. My prescription needs behavioral health "approval" unfortunately and the provider I was seen by did not want to help me, he is a nurse practitioner named Edward Lobaugh; if you get anything from this review, avoid getting this person. We had an hour time slot and spent about 45 mins of it in silence as he supposedly read over my notes. For someone with ADHD among other things, this was absolutely awful to sit through. The questions he did ask were not relevant to my issues, so I didn't understand until the end that he was attempting to re-qualify me for a condition I was diagnosed with and had the same medication for since 2017. Instead of being genuinely interested in helping me, it seemed he was trying to kill time to get to his next appointment which he alluded to when he said he wouldn't prescribe my medication. When I mentioned my problem with him to the front desk lady after my appointment, she said she'd heard of issues with him in the past. Why be in a psychiatric field of work if you'd rather work an assembly line? It's detrimental to those who have delicate mental health issues as it is. He said he could prescribe me something else, but why would I try something different due to his laziness and when I already have something that's worked for me for years?

The second part of this is calling this VA to get someone new. It took ME calling them for a week and being run around in circles to finally find out I'd have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to be seen by someone else. I was told 4 different times on different days I'd be called by this apparently fantasy person who's in charge of the providers there to talk about a new provider. So I waited, didn't hear anything for a day; called again, same thing over and over again. I'm out of my medication and now I'm scared of how I'm going to deal with this until my next unknown appointment. I thought Virginia was bad, holy cow...

UPDATE: When normal VA fails you for medications, call their Beacon service ext 2184. After going through this issue, I was told to contact them and they can help you with hold over medication until you're seen by a provider. I spoke with a lovely nurse practitioner named Fiona. She immediately made me feel at ease and was so understanding of my situation. She prescribed me for a month and I am just so grateful to her. If only more people were like her, the VA wouldn't be so stressful.

I have always had a positive experience with the staff at this facility, from the front desk, (2) in the emergency department, once with the community care personnel, X-ray, lab work, pharmacy, doctors nurses and the entire staff. I live 60 miles away there are many hospitals in between but my first stop will be at Raymond G Murphy.
Thank you!!

If I had to choose between this hospital and any other, I would definitely choose a different one. The care provided by my primary care provider is below standard, and the healthcare services they offer are inadequate. The process of addressing healthcare needs through the VA is extremely drawn out, with minimal effort made to assess one's condition. While there are a few competent medical staff members, the likelihood of obtaining the necessary treatment at this facility is low.

This VA hospital staff and volunteers are TOP-NOTCH!!
The combination of ALL the KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE between the doctors and nurses are PRICELESS!!
Not everything and everyone is perfect, but they are wanted and needed!
I also need to mention the janitorial stuff and every single person that keeps this particular VA hospital CLEAN!

I visited the ER and the regular hospital. I had a great visit each time. Even though the internet was down, they did all they could to make my visit short in the ER. The doctors and staff were really helpful and took good care for me.

The Raymond G. Murphy Albuquerque VA overall does not give a flip about the individual disabled veteran. No one working there seems to care and when I visit there my PTSD erupts, as staff wants to "Pass the Buck," without giving help. I am a Vietnam Veteran, and drafted in 1969. I served, I Served, I SERVED a year in 1970, full year in Vietnam. A male NP talked to me today as if I was a piece of _ _ _ _, no caring or giving any kind of help. Guess what, I feel like a piece of _ _ _ _. Who Runs this place and what do people working there made in salary.
